Collections Care ‘Book Club’
June 14 @ 10:00 am - July 12 @ 11:00 am

Looking after collections for future generations is a fundamental responsibility of a museum. In this free and informal weekly ‘book club’, CMP’s Museum Development Officer will guide you through collections care topics using freely available online resources.
We will cover the basics of:
- handling and packing
- storage
- environmental monitoring and pests
- dusting and cleaning
- marking and labelling
- buildings and security
The club will take place weekly for five weeks via Zoom on Wednesdays from 10am to 11am. Reading material will be shared and discussed the week after. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, meet new people and share learning with your peers.
This series is an ideal introduction to collection care for:
- New or existing volunteers and staff without previous experience of collections care
- Existing staff or volunteers who want a refresh and a chance to talk about best practice
No prior experience or knowledge is necessary, but we do ask for your commitment to the whole series. You must also work for or volunteer in a museum in Cornwall.
