Volunteers are an integral part of any museum. They‘re the heart and soul of museums, whether they’re small or large.
Having a well-informed volunteer programme in place is important for two main reasons. First of all, volunteers are cost effective. They produce valuable work and contribute years of skills and experience without being paid. At the same time, volunteering is now very popular among people of all ages who choose to work voluntarily for various different reasons. This has helped transform museums into major volunteering ‘hubs’. The majority of museums can now boast a large number of volunteers who do different things and add a splash of personality to the museum experience.
You can make the best out of your fundraising process and manage to lead a successful fundraising strategy by getting your volunteers on board. Engaging your volunteers right from the start and asking their opinions will help you make the most out of your fundraising process. The amazing level of diversity among volunteers will also give you the chance to look at your strategies from a different point of view.
