You are invited to a meeting of the Cornwall Visual Arts Subject Specialist Network: “John Opie and Historic Portraiture in Cornwall”
Thursday 31 March, 9.30am – 1.30pm (lunch provided)
at The Royal Cornwall Museum, Truro TR1 2SJ
A FREE event aimed at artists, craftspeople, museum and gallery workers and anyone with a specialist interest in the visual arts
This is the second of six meetings over the next three years organised by Cornwall Museums Partnership aimed at people from the Visual Arts sector in Cornwall and Devon. The meetings are funded by Arts Council England through the Major Partner Museums Programme.
The aim of the Visual Arts Subject Specialist Network is to bring together arts specialists, curators, museum workers, academics and practitioners, to learn about visual arts collections in this region, solve problems and to pool expertise. A range of topics will be covered across the meetings, from ceramics to printmaking and portraiture.
For this meeting, we are delighted to welcome two speakers with a specific expertise in historic portraiture, Viv Hendra from Lander Gallery, Truro and Lawrence Hendra from Philip Mould Historical Portraits, London.
There is also a ‘problem-solving’ session, so you are invited to bring along A4 copies of any historic portraits that you wish to learn more about.
There is tea and coffee on arrival and a buffet lunch, so there will be lots of opportunities for chatting and networking!
Although this is a free event, booking is essential. Please RSVP by 25 March to [email protected]
