We are pleased to announce the date for our Rethinking Diversity in a Rural Region Conference, taking place on 13th January 2017, between 10am – 4pm, at Wheal Martyn, St Austell.
This conference explores what diversity means for rural and smaller museums. We will discuss how museums in Cornwall can help contribute to and develop Arts Council England’s flagship policy, the ‘Creative Case for Diversity’, and how we can create cultural experiences that are inclusive and open to all.
There will be keynote presentations from inclusion and diversity experts, case-studies, and plenty of opportunity for debate and discussion with hands-on practical participation. The day will provide an opportunity to explore how we can work creatively to diversify our work and our audiences.
The event has been organised by Cornwall Museums Partnership and hosted in conjunction with Wheal Martyn with funding from Arts Council England.
Who should come?
The conference is aimed at anyone working, volunteering or running museums in Cornwall, especially those interested in visitor experience, learning and collections development. It is also for organisations or individual practitioners that currently work with or would like to work in partnership with museums.
